To the family and friends of Kevin Slein, I am truly sorry for your loss. I met Kevin when he first arrived at Fort Drum, NY. Kevin had that great personality that everyone loved. It was very difficult for me to seperate myself from being close as his supervisor and now I regret that. Kevin was young but he taught me a lot about being a leader and a mentor. When I left Fort Drum to move on with my Army Career I remember the going away lunch, I was choked up greatly because I knew I would miss this great bunch of guys my brothers in arms. I am proud to have served with Kevin in OEF and OIF and honored to just have known him. I am choked up once again as I feel the loss. My God bless you and give you comfort and peace. Kevin as a combat medic memorized a creed as we all have...remember this, Kevin stood for this.. Creed of the Combat Medic
I am a combat medic, a soldier designated to stand for more than just freedom and liberty for all Americans. I stand for love. A love so deep and so strong that my job is not to take lives but to same them, even my worst enemy. When my patient dies, a part of my country dies. As the bood runs down my cheek so his family's grief flows through my veins and I pray for them. When my patient lives, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I have help keep one of God's children alive on this earth another day and that Soldier will live on to keep America's dreams alive and generations to come safe and free. That is why I am a Combat Medic and that is why I am proud to call myself an American. Rest in peace Kevin. SSG Zertuche

Although I never knew Kevin, I can only imagine how extrodinary of an individual he was. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and by those who never had the opportunity to experience his joy.I thank him for his generous protection he has provided his family and the rest of our country.
Nicole, my thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you keep the strength to guide yourself through this tragedy.

Kevin - We know you were with all of us yesterday. And know how proud you must be of Nicole, your family and friends on what an amazingly honorable funeral that someone only like you deserved. It was very clear throughout the day how much you touched so many people in so many different areas of your life, from family, to people you served with in the military, to people who you only knew for a short time... they were all there to honor you! Like it has been said before ..the world is truley a better place for what you brought to all of us. Rest in peace my friend and continue to watch over us and we will always watch over Nicole. Not goodbye .. see you later.

I was heading out to Warwick today from Richmond and was stopped in My tracks by a huge funeral procession. I called My Wife to ask "who died, it must have been someone very special?". Turns out it was. RIP Sir, I never knew you but My thoughts are with you Soldier.

Kevin, I will never forget how you came into Med Care like a tornado and touched everyone around you. I am deeply grateful that I got to know you and you have left your mark on me. I will miss sitting in my office with you talking about family, friends and just life in general. As I sat in the church today I saw people laughing, crying and remembering the great person that you are. You would have been proud at the amazing strength that your family showed. May God hold you in the palm of his hand and I'm sure we will see each other again. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers!!! Rest in Peace Brother!!! Sean

To the entire Slein family,
As a co-worker, with Bonnie, it was always easy to see how much family means to Bonnie. My heart hurts with the news of Kevin's passing. I do know that all who had the opportunity to know and love him, as much as his family does, were truly blessed. Bonnie just needed to say her children's names and her eyes were full of pride and love. Bonnie, I will pray for all of you...to have strength and faith and know that there is a new soldier in heaven...a very special man. God bless you all.

Nicole - Ed and I are so, so sorry to hear about your loss. We stared blankly at each other when we heard the awful, completely unfair news. We never met Kevin, but knew he must have been someone special based on the way you would light up when you talked about him. Our thoughts are with you, Nicole.

Kevin is an exemplary example of a true patriot. His tours in Afganistan and Iraq show the type of person he was. Compassionate, caring, giving and a fellow veteran. I didn't know Kevin very well. But from what I saw and knew of him, he was a dedicated soldier and a loving husband. God speed Kevin and God Bless you. You are in His hands now.

..........Kevin was a tremendous pleasure to work with and be around. He was a top notch guy. Everyone liked him. He was partner from my first day at MedCare everyday for a long time. He loved his wife Nicole very much and his family, and he always spoke of them in the highest regard. I am so glad he and I were partners and I could not have had a better one. I am grateful and honored to have been friends with him. He always knew the right thing to do and made me a better person. Along with is quick wit, we had and friend to friend conversations I will never forget.
God Bless you Kevin, Salute.
You will be miss very very much!

He left us without saying goodbye, left us with questions and tears in our eyes.He is missed and won't be forgotten, the feeling in my stomachs quite rotton. It seems this simply can't be true, there are so many people who miss and love you.
Now a candle burns in your place, we don't want to feel that empty space. He spoke of the things that made him glad, Nicole, Mollie, Mom and Dad. ***I worked with Kevin at Medcare everyday. I can feel his absence,it doesn't feel the same in the truck without him. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and may he rest in peace

Mike and Bonnie: Linda and I were absolutely stunned and so deeply saddened when we heard from Bob and Lin the awful news of Kevin's passing. We could not begin to imagine your grief but immediately felt compelled to contact our own kids, to hear their voices, share the sad story of your loss, and to let our girls know how much we love them. We will be with you in spirit during the services, and trust God that your fondest memories of Kevin's life, filled with friends and fun, will enrich you and your family forever.

Michael, Bonnie, Caitlin and Nicole. I am so sorry and shocked about hearing about Kevin. He was always a gentleman when I saw him, which was alot while growing up and hanging around my son's Michael and Dan. I remember how they all stuck together as they played Hockey for Nashua High. We all did lot's of traveling, and all those exciting games, and a few of those fights they all would have on the ice. He will be missed much. He was a pleasure when he would be with the gang on Roy st, and Boggs Circle. He is in the Lords Hands now, and God bless you all. My thoughts are with you all..

Kevin has been there for me through the hardest of times. His mere presence could bring a smile to my face even in the face of uncertainty. Our friendship was, I would like to believe, unique. I remember the day I met him as if it were yesterday. He had been assigned to my cot in our tent in Afghanistan while I had been away. After the initial confusion that night we stayed up awfully late getting to know each other. It was a ritual that would continue. We told each other everything about our lives to that point, which proved to be many, many long conversations. I wouldn't doubt that he knew more about me than I do. The following years saw us through good times and bad. Another deployment, this time to Iraq ended early for us. As fate would have it we both spent some time in Walter Reed then wound up together on rear detachment back at Drum. It seemed that we were inseparable. The day Nicole and him were married was without a doubt the most beautiful day I had ever seen begin and end, from sunrise to sunset and on into the night.
I, as will all who knew and loved him, will miss Kevin from the bottom of my heart. But given the nature of Kevin's personality, even in the worst times, my memories of him will be fond and happy. My heart is with Bonnie, Mike, Nicole, Caitlin, and Molly Dog and I will be here for you if you need me.
