Joseph Mello Obituary

MELLO, JOSEPH, 84, of Newman Avenue, formerly of Fox Point where he had lived for 74 years, passed away Saturday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Arlinda (Camara) Mello and had been the husband of Theresa C. (Jolicoeur) Mello for 55 years.

Mr. Mello retired after 43 years from Marshall & Williams. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

He was the father of Chris Mello and his wife Sheri, Debbie DeOrsey and her husband Joe, Gail Spinella and her husband Sal, Kathy Costello and her husband Paul, and the late James Mello; father-in-law of Karen Mello; Pops to 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother of Armand, Gilbert and Dan Mello, and the late John Mello, Laura Costa, Irene Francis, Lucille Najas and Anna Bosco.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 92 Hope Street, Providence. Burial with Military Honors to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
