I'm in church this morning and i am trying to think of why i never saw my father cry at his dads funeral, and for a minite or two i thought that he was cold and i remember getting really mad at him for not crying at his dads funeral. but as i listened to the priest and almost started to cry i stopped myself as my son and daughter looked at me and asked if i was crying . i said " NO ". daddy was not crying , i realized that i could not cry in front of my children. just like my father could not cry in front of me. now i understand why he didn't cry.

"unimportant things to know..." was a phrase my dad used alot after he would give us a word of advice, or tell us a historical fact, or talk about something he read in Popular Mechanics magazine.

i think it's little details like this we will always remember as they become a part of me and my brother.

i like to believe that those who were touched by his life are the living expressions of his love , his values, his humor -- and who he was

-- but it's hard to go on without him.

-- we love u dad -- your son eric
