Funeral 10/22/07 Eulogy, Helen Scitarelli: from her Son Bob
I remember about 2 years ago having a heart to heart talk with my Mom, and to my surprise she asked me to say a few
words about her at her funeral. The very first thought that came to my mind was how very thoughtful she was about those
who needed help.
She told me of the story when she was a little girl about her grandmother saying to her mother Rose that "Helen possessed nurturing abilities" and was chosen to be the one to help bring up the family of her nine sisters and three brothers. Since then she took on that assignment with strong intent, deep compassion, and what appeared to be never ending exuberance, right up until she was physically unable to do so at the age of 92. She gave so much of herself that it bubbled over to all of her other relatives and friends and those who crossed her path. I remember many times asking her where she got all her energy and she would say with delight "God Gives Me the Strength" how else could I do it. Throughout her life she would help in whatever way she could, whether someone was sick, in need of financial help, guiding others with advise, or cooking one of her delicious meals for family, friends or strangers. I might add she taught me how to cook starting at the age of eight. I wondered what her secret ingredient was that made everything taste so good. I discovered that the secret ingredient was LOVE. She was always ready at a moments notice to whip up a meal using her favorite pots and pans she carried in the trunk of her car. My sister, brother and I thought that it was funny, but she took it very serious. Now at the age of 92 her life assignment is completed and her main purpose of giving in her life is done. I want to say on behalf of everyone, starting with her grandmother and from all the hearts of others that she touched, thank you for a job well done. I know all the light & love she gave is now coming back to her a million times over and over in the devine heavenly, eternal love and care of God.

I happily remember her graciously honoring my deliveries of food-grade peroxide with her fine cuisine. I also happily remember our enjoying Emotional Freedom Technique in sync with music.
I was also inspired by stories I heard about her: First, her having cooked for about eleven siblings in her youth; second, her husband opening a restaurant after her teaching him to cook; third, her winning Bingo more often after practicing Emotional Freedom Technique.
