Obituary
Guest Book
She married Jack Ritchey in Detroit in 1940 and had four sons, David, Dale, Paul and Douglas Ritchey. Helene was a true matriarch of her family, which offered her the skills to live very independently in her later years. Living through the Great Depression allowed Helene to live comfortably with her eye on the bottom line.
Calling her a sports fan would be an understatement. Helene could answer any question and rattle off statistics about the Red Wings, Tigers and golf.
She had a full life, volunteering her time at Munson Medical Center for 21 years and at Northwest Michigan Blood Center for 13 years. She filled in her days with gardening, needlepoint and crocheting.
Helene is survived by her sons, David (Kaye), Paul (Joyce) and Doug Ritchey, all of Traverse City; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1979; son, Dale Ritchey; and sister, Francis Graham.
There are no services planned at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice House.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.

HELENE RITCHEY WAS A VOLUNTEER IN OUTPATIENT REGISTRATION WHERE I WORKED FOR 7 YRS. SHE WAS AN EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN WITH PEOPLE SKILLS AND HAD A HEART OF GOLD. SHE WAS ONE OF OUR GREATEST VOLUNTEERS AND IS TRULY MISSED. I LOVED HER SENSE OF HUMOR AND HER LAUGH AS WELL. SHE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL YET SO WARM AND LOVING TO ALL THE PATIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND TO ALL THE MEDICAL STAFF EMPLOYEES. HELENE WAS TRULY AN ANGEL SENT TO US FROM ABOVE. MAY GOD BLESS HER AND KEEP HER IN HIS ARMS FOREVER, AS SHE IS SO DESERVING AS A GOOD CHRISTIAN AS WELL. IF EVERYONE WAS LIKE HELENE THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE. I OFFER MY SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND HER FRIENDS. SHE WAS A TRUE BLESSING IN LIFE TO ALL THAT KNEW HER. GOD BLESS HER.

Paul and Family
I am very sorry for the loss of your Mother. She is at peace and no longer in pain. I know there is a better place where she can watch over you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
