Theresa Manfredi Obituary

Teresa Quilici

MANFREDI

Teresa Quilici Manfredi, 85, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2008 at Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV. Teresa was born on The Quilici Ranch on Longley Lane in Reno on January 22, 1923 to Gulio and Ida Quilici. She attended Huffaker School and graduated from Reno High School in 1940. Her first job was at Silver State Bakery. She met her husband Vincent in 1941. After Vincent returned from serving in WWII, they were married at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral on August 2, 1947. She later went to work at First National Bank of Nevada where she worked as a teller and continued to be promoted to many different positions with increasing responsibility. She earned an Associates Degree in Banking by attending night classes in the evening. Her education and bilingual skills earned her a reputation within the community among prominent Renoites and she was always known for her professionalism and willingness to assist others in the Italian-American community.

For a time she worked with her husband at Pinky's Market on East Fourth Street which they owned together for eight years. After the sale of Pinky's she returned to banking and was recognized for her continuous achievements by the American Institute of Banking. She retired from First National Bank in January 1988. Teresa will be remembered for her passion for banking but, more importantly, for her caring, compassionate and generous ways not to mention, that if you were one of her favorites, she would crochet an afghan as a special gift...the only condition was that the recipient of the afghan had to choose the colors. She was actively involved in the Reno community and the St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church. She belonged to the YLI organization, the Madonna Della Guardia Society and the Little Flower Altar Society.

Teresa was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, her parents and her sister Ann Lepori. She is survived by her only daughter Susan of Atlanta, GA, her sister Julia Salerno, her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Quilici, of Reno and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Reno, Roseville, CA, Lucca, Italy and Bases Alpes, France along with an entire community of neighbors and friends whom she loved like family and who also loved her.

Rosary and Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 10 a.m at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Reno. Private entombment will be held later at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Reno. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice. We invite you to send a condolence message in the family guestbook at www.waltonsfuneralhomes.com

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
