Richard Stansbury Obituary

Richard Alan Stansbury, 42, of Union Hall, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father Alan P. Stansbury. Surviving are his wife Hollie; son Rick; daughter Erin; and stepdaughter Rachel. He also leaves his mother Miriam Stansbury; sisters Donna Stansbury, Janine Haley and Patricia Stansbury. Rick was born in Montclair, New Jersey and grew up in Harding Township New Jersey. He moved to Virginia 10 years ago and worked with his father at Quan-Tech Inc. He also worked in his own company, Corvair Motorsports which repaired and reconditioned vintage Corvair cars. He was currently employed by Lowes in Roanoke. A private ceremony will be conducted Monday, October 29, 2007 for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.

I always enjoyed times we spent together. Rick had a vast knowledge of Corvairs and racing in particular. Parts supplied by him are on my Yenko Stinger to this day, and all of his work was always top drawer. He will be missed... My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Charlie

I am so sorry to hear that Rick is no longer with us. I knew Rick from his association with the Northeast Corvair Council and the New Jersey Association of Corvair Enthusiasts. I also did business with him at Corvair Motorsports. He was friendly, approachable and generous with all of us. I will miss him.

Rick has been a valuable resource and has freely shared his extensive knowledge of corvairs especially pertaining to performance enhancements. My current track/autocross car was built by Rick and it is a masterpiece. The corvair world will miss you greatly.My condoelences to the Family
