Charles Young Obituary

Charles Morton (C.M.) Young Jr., 85, died October 11, 2005 in Richmond, Va., and will be interred on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel and Arlington National Cemetery with his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Dotty) Ruth Young, 82, who died November 27, 2007. C.M. was born in Rocky Mount, Va., on March 27, 1920, a son of the late Charles Morton Young Sr. and Lertie Maude Walker Young. He graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1938 and attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., graduating in 1942 with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He also earned a masters degree in international affairs from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1963. C.M. served 31 years in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Brigadier General and was awarded numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Distinguished Service Medal. He retired in 1972, moving to Orlando, Fla., where he lived for 29 years before moving to Richmond in December of 2001. C.M. and Dotty are survived by their four children, Charles Morton Young III, Dorothy Converse Young, Dale Christopher Young and Corwin Walker Young; and by seven grandchildren.
