To the family of Jack Graybill. What a wonderful man. I loved Mr. Graybill and his wonderful smile and his easy manner. I loved seeing him at the all class reunion events and just talking to him about days gone by. He was so special to all of us as students. He WILL be missed and I am sure we will all carry him in our hearts for a long time to come. God bless Mr. Graybill and his family.

It was a privilidged to have graduated from JHS in 1969 while Mr. Graybill was principal. He always made us feel special and important. Mr Graybill was the claming person during the desegregation period. When we would see Mr. Graybill in the halls with his smile and his clamness we knew we are safe and it was going to be okay for all of us. It was a priviledge to have known Mr. Graybill. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Jack Graybill was a fine man and a good friend to me and my family. I had the pleasure of being best friends with Jay growing up and our parents struck up a friendship that endured throughout their lives. Jack was always an example to us of integrity, kindness and zest for living. We mourn his passing and will remember Jay and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

I had the priviledge of having Mr. Graybill as my principal at Patrick Henry when I came to Roanoke in 1978. He was a wonderful administrator, fair and professional. He was so considerate and such a gentleman. I will always remember how touched I was that he made a personal visit to my home after the birth of my daughter. He said he and Louise had a personal gift for us. Such personal consideration for one's staff is not often seen - how honored I am to have known this great man and to work with him and for him. May God be with his family as I know he is greatly missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

He was our dean, teacher, mentor, and friend. His son said that Mr. Graybill was proud of the school annuals that were dedicated to him while in education.
Well, Mr. Graybill, being on the annual staff, we were the ones that were proud and honored. Our theme for the annual that year was Happiness Is...Your dedication began as " To A Happy Man", that is how we remember you.
I once heard that you could judge a man's wealth by the number of friends that he kept. Mr. Graybill, you were truly a wealthy man.
At the next class reunion we will miss you but will never forget you.
You will always be our Golden Colonel.

Although saddened to learn of his passing, I celebrate the life of Jack Graybill and all that he meant to so many of us. He was such a joy at our last Class Reunion several years ago... a few of us even enjoyed a dance with him ("jitterbug/shag") and the fact that he still cared about and remembered all of of us...."his students". His was a life well spent as he truly made a difference in the lives of many..(William Fleming Class of 1962)

We were so sadden to hear of Jack's illness and passing, but have many fond memories of great times together. We joined Jack and friends at the "beach" (Myrtle Beach, SC) for bridge several times over the past years. My parents (Libby and Pat Dungan) lunched with Jack every Sunday after church and always kept us posted on the latest happenings. We saw Jack at many family and friend gatherings and loved his special friendship. He will be missed. Our prayers are with his family and friends.

I am so saddened to hear of Jack's death. He was a real mentor to me when I was first active in the REA, and encouraged me to run for President. We had such a good time at the NEA Convention in Portland, OR. After that he lent me his book, DAUGHTER OF TIME by Josephine Tey, which definitely changed my thoughts on Richard III. You were a great educator, Jack, and a good friend. You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, Jack, at this time.
Sincerely,
