Charlie Austin Obituary

Charlie Alvin Austin, 83, of Ferrum, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008. He owned and operated a meat processing business and was a retired school bus driver. He was born August 12, 1925, a son of the late Lewis and Lillie Austin. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Blanche Austin; infant sister, Viola; sister and brothers-in-law, Janie Rutrough and Charlie and Ernest; brothers-in-law, Emory Jamison, John Brunk and Loyd Jamison; and sister-in-law, Betty Jamison. Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Nannie Jamison Austin; daughters, Lois and husband, Joe Brubaker, and Lena and husband, John William Sink Jr.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Wilmer and wife, Clara; several nieces and nephews; sistersin-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Jamison, Joel Jamison (Fannie), Annie Bowman (Levi), Vernon Jamison (Frances), Fannie Brunk, Ellis Jamison (Rachel) and Bertha May Brubaker (Marvin). Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, from Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Pigg River Church, Six Mile Post Road, Rocky Mount, Va. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount, Va.
