Jack Songer Obituary

Jack Donald Songer, 69, of Blacksburg, and formerly of Newport, departed this life Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on September 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Mattie Sue Epling Songer. He was a tile setter by trade. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Virginia S. Davis and her husband, Vivian, of Salem, and Lois S. Breeding, of Pembroke; three brothers, Daniel L. Songer and his wife, Jean ,of Colonial Heights, Eddie Songer, of Christiansburg, Mickel "Ike" Songer and his wife, Glenda, of Christiansburg; and a very special and long time friend, Pat Watkins, of Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 20, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at kendallfuneralhome.com.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I am the morning booth cashier at Kent Sq. and Jack was a friend to us all here. . He was always asking me how I was doing, and would do anything for me. Again, my prayers are with you at this time of loss.
