Doris Chewning Obituary

Doris Maxine Spickard Chewning, 81, of Roanoke County, formerly of Botetourt County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2008. She spent most of her life farming and was a member of the Melrose Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Trubie L. Chewning; her parents, Elmer and Ettie Spickard; and a brother, Elmer Spickard Jr. Surviving are her sisters, Joyce St.Clair and husband, Tom, Marion Adell Spickard Ayers and husband, AI, Peggy J. Spickard, Nancy Clarke and husband, Ellsworth, Iris Graham and husband, Bill; brothers, Haynes Spickard and wife, Eunice, Emanuel Spickard and wife, Sue, Dale Spickard and wife, Sarah; also are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, August 25, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Interment will be in Glade Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
