Tennie,
I was very saddened to hear of uncle Gaylen’s death. Your entire family was such an influential part of my childhood. I spent a lot of time at your house with my best childhood friend, Martha. Knowing your family truly shaped my life. I would have never pursued a computer career if it had not been for wanting to follow Martha in school. You were always so kind and supportive. I remember sitting at your kitchen table as you prepared breakfast for Martha & I after a sleepover (it’s funny the things that stick in your thoughts). I cherish the times that Gaylen supported my passion for horses which continues to be an important part of my life. Gaylen would often haul my horse in the back of his truck to take me to horse shows. Guess what - I’m still showing horses! Please know that even though I am physically far away that my thoughts and prayers are right there with you and your family. Gaylen was a very kind and giving person and will be missed by all that knew him.

Teenie,
I am so sorry to hear about Gaylen. I know you probably don't remember me, but I remember meeting you and Gaylen when I was just a girl. I always remember seeing the two of you in your green Taurus around town. Gaylen was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed, especially by my grandfather, Claude Sirry. He will miss Gaylen also. I want you to know that the thoughts and prayers of my family are with you at this time. May you be able to remember him always.

Granddaddy, I will miss you so much. Some of the most special memories I have of you are the summers I spent with you and Grandma Teenie at the old homeplace. Riding on the tractor to the Catawba Merchantile to get a Coke, that we had to drink in the store, will always bring a smile to my face. I would be bored to tears when you would watch "Mash" in that big green chair in the livingroom. I never understood that program. Now I can't get enough of "Mash." I always thought you were as tough as nails, and you were. But you were as soft inside as you were tough outside. While you will live on in heaven, you will also live on in the lives of your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I love you Granddaddy Galen.

I can remember Gaylen as a child coming to church at Shiloh with my parents. He always had a smile on his face or joke to tell.
