Robert Perry Obituary

Robert Wilson Perry, 87, of Madison Heights, departed this life at Avante of Lynchburg on Sunday, August 24, 2008. He was born May 8, 1921, in Akins, S.C., to the late Robert and Bertha R. Perry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara McCray Perry; a grandson, Maurice E. Turner; two sisters, Edith Walker and Lila Mae Richerson; one brother, James Perry; and a stepgrandson, Harold E. Johnson. He was a retired employee of Lynchburg Ready-Mix after 30 years of service. He joined the Ivy Hill Baptist Church in Naola, Va., then later joined the Bolling Hill Baptist Church, Madison Heights after moving to the area. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Linda B. Perry; a son, Robert Perry (Lula), of Madison Heights; four daughters, Bertha P. Kyle (Melvin), of Roanoke, Delores P. Turner (Morris), of Glasgow, Gracie P. Johnson (Harold), of Monroe, and Deborah P. Ware (James), of Lynchburg; a stepdaughter, Vicky Cunningham (Robert), of Madison Heights; a mother-in-law, Ms. Rosa Lee Brown, of Madison Heights; one sister, Alberta P. Walker, of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, one stepgrandchild; nine greatgrandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Bolling Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. M.D. Mays. Interment will be in the church cemetery. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008,at Community Funeral Home and other times at 242 Bolling Hill Lane and at the residence of his daughter, Deborah P. Ware, 502 Warren Ave., Lynchburg. The cortege will assemble at 242 Bolling Hill Lane. Condolences can be emailed to [email protected] or [email protected].
