Evelyn Mabe Obituary

Evelyn Louise Kitts Mabe, 81, of Max Meadows, Va., passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, in Wythe Co. Community Hospital. She was born in Wythe Co., Va. November 30, 1926, daughter of the late Stuart Biddle Kitts and Lillie Mae Callahan Kitts. She was a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Samuel "Bobby" Mabe Jr.; also several brothers and sisters. She is survived by twin daughters and spouses, Brenda and Bobby Underwood, of Wytheville, Va., Linda and Johnny Manuel, of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren and spouses, Chad and Marsha Underwood, Travis and Jennifer Manuel, Stephanie and Clayton McIntire; great-grandchildren, Cole and Cy Underwood, Ryan and Jacob Wendi, Hannah McIntire, Robbie Manuel, and Brittany Dheel; sister, Frances Hudson , of Max Meadows; sister-in-law, Jean Kitts, of Wytheville, brother-in-law, Olen Riggle, of Wytheville; numerous nieces, nephews; and her church family also survive. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Gleasanna Johnson officiating. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday prior to the service or at the residence of Chad and Marsha Underwood, 795 Walton Furnace Road, Max Meadows, Va. at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Max Meadows United Methodist Church, c/o Judy Swecker, P.O. Box 185, Max Meadows Va. 24360. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
