William Lester Obituary

William Hunt Lester, 78, Christiansburg, born February 14, 1930, to Victor V. and Kittie Richardson Lester, died Saturday, August 30, 2008. He was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and a United States Army veteran. He worked many years at the Christiansburg Post Office during which time he also owned and operated Bill's Restaurant and The Highway Inn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley A. Lester; and his companion of 30 years, Alma M. Albert, whom he lovingly cared for during her extended illness. Bill is survived by a sister, Estelle L. Chandler, Mountain City, Tenn.; brothers, Rodney D. Lester, Christiansburg, and Ralph R. Lester, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; children, Gregory Lester, Christiansburg, and Julie L. Edwards, Blacksburg. Also surviving are nieces, Cheryl B. Bradley, Janet L. Peterson, Harriet L. Williams, B.J. Willard and Melissa L. Milione; nephews, Wayne Lester, Mark Williams, Jared Butner, and Tim Lester. He also leaves many close friends with whom he shared many happy times over the years, including Paul and Agnes Simpkins, Johnny and Vicky Bartlett, and Bob and Lodis Sickey. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2008, at Horne Funeral Service followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad or the Christiansburg Fire Department. Online condolences may be made at www.hornefuneralservices.com.
