Jimmie Lester Fisher

Jimmie Lester Fisher, 86, of Vinton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2008. He was a longtime member of Midland Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. He retired after many years of service from Vinton Weaving. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lydia Newman Fisher; four brothers, Ben, Melvin, Warren, and Owen Fisher; two sisters, Frances F. Young, and Alta F. Meador; and a son-in-law, Donald W. Boitnott. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jo Anne H. Fisher; three daughters, Lyndall (Lynn) F. Boitnott, Kathryn F. Mizak and husband, Steven Mizak, and Kimberlee F. Weeks and husband, Barry Weeks Sr.; five grandchildren, Maria Weaver and husband, Chris Weaver, Greg Mizak and wife, Leigh Mizak, Chris Mizak and wife, Megan Mizak, Jessica Weeks and her friend, Blake Gill, and Barry Weeks Jr.; four greatgrandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Magen, and Carson; two sisters, Evelyn Meador, and Agnes McGlothlin; one brother, Ralph Fisher and wife, Edith Fisher; two sisters-in-law, Christine Fisher, and Margaret Fisher. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to his wonderful caregivers at Berkshire and to the caring staff of Good Samaritan Hospice. A funeral service will be conducted noon Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Rodger Hogan and the Rev. Juan Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research. The family will receive friends Monday, September 1, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
