Carlton, Jean, Steve, Jeff and family,
I was in shock when my son, a kingergardener at Montvale, came home and told me that Mr. Flowers' son had passed away. I couldn't believe it! I am so very sorry for your loss and send my families most sincere condolences in these trying times. I remember Mike tagging along with Steve, Scottie, and me around the mountain. Especially the piggy back sleigh-riding down the mountain. I realize that Mike's birthday just passed and I am sure that just makes it a little more difficult. Again, you are in my thoughts and if I can help out in any way please give me a call.

Sometimes things happen we don't understand. But you have to remember that GOD has a greater plan. I know its hard, we all want answers that none of us have. I know without a doubt that Mike is in heaven, walking with the LORD and watching over us. His life on earth was cut way to short and we are all going to miss him dearly. But if we keep looking to the LORD he will guide us and strengthen us. He will bring peace and understanding that surpasses all explanation. One day we will see Mike again and we will all rejoice in the presence of our LORD together.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

I was extremely shocked to hear the news about Mike. I can always remember him smiling and giggling, it was so contagious it made me smile every time I was around him. I am deeply saddened and my heart goes out to his family. My prayers are with you!!

I was blown away when I heard this unbelievable news. I know that you love your boys more than life itself, and I can only imagine the depth of misery that you are now experiencing. I will always have alot of memories of Mike, 28 years worth. I will remember his smile,laugh and how much fun we had. We would pick on one another all the time. We had a valuable bond. We had somthing called Brotherly Love. Sometimes it was tender and sometimes it was tuff love. That's how he was. I owe him alot because of him I am who I am. He always looked out for me whether I knew it or not.I know in my heart he will continue to do so. I am so proud to say Mike is my Brother my Friend my Flesh and Blood.He meant so much to so many. I know this is one of the hardest things we will have to go through as a family but all we can do is be there for each other and get through this together. My heart breaks to hear of the loss of Michael. He was always so full of life and smiles. I saw his smile in the picture of his little girl when I went to Steve & Dawn's on Monday. I never will forget one night Dawn, Michael and I went to the movies. I needed to go into one of the stores before the movie started, so after the movie was over the mall itself had closed. We had to walk a heck of a long way to the car. Not to mention Dawn was about 7 months pregnant. They never let me live that one down. If any of you need anything, please let me know. And Steve, you have always been the brother that I never had. If you need someone to talk to, please call me anytime.

Michael, Lovely Michael, I am truly devestated.
Uncle Carl - aunty Jean, The pain you both are suffering is unimaginable because grief is relentless in its power; it grabs hold of you like a cruel vice and refuses to let you go. People will advise you that, "Time Heals," and you will want to scream at them - but what we have found is that you eventually, after a long while, is that you get "Used" to the memory. It hurts just as much and it is there every day but is not so relentless as it was in the past - but only when it IS IN the long-ago past.
Michael was lovely, he didn't like bee's either. I remember the time he was driving up Taylors Mountain and there was a huge bee in the pickup. We tried to shift away from it all ways but it stayed buzzing around us - so we had to stop. We got out, our arms flailing all over the place in case the bee was in us. Chris was coming up behind us and he has never let us live it down.
I will miss you Michael; in my memory you are always there with Chris and Jeff, Rodney and Daniel - I wish with all my heart you were still there now.
Tomorrow, in the 'plane when I am very near the Angels with their beautiful feathered white wings and hearts of gold, I hope to chance just a glimpse of you being loved and adored in their arms.

Words cannot begin to express how sorry Scott and I are for the loss of Mike. Mike became out next door neighbor as well as a good friend several years ago. We will always remember him as the funny, smiling, silly, and outgoing guy that he always was.
