To the Barnes family, I am sending my deepest sympathy to your family. I heard my "father the "late" Herman Henderson talk about "Uncle Oddie" I think I even met him as a child years ago, but seeing that my father talked so highly of him, I knew I had to offer my condolences. Take care and remember all of the special things that Uncle Oddie has taught each and everyone that was blessed to have known him. 101 years "young" now that had to be a man with knowlege, So his teachings here on earth are over, but just remember everything he has taught you and pass on the wisdom to others.

With Love Renae "Pookie" Holmes and family.

To all of my family:

May God continue to bless you, and keep you safe during this time of sadness.

I thank the Lord that I was able to see everyone at Uncle Oddie's 100th birthday celebration. For me it was a family reunion. I pray that we all continue to keep in touch and remain close.

All of you may not remember me, but I am on the Francis side of the family. I'm sure my father: may he rest in peace: Herman Henderson is smiling alongside Uncle Oddie in heaven.

I love you all,
(Mousie)

Grandfather,

I just would like to say I'm very glad of the fact that I got to (re)meet you at the Family Reunion. I wasn't in your life on a daily basis, however; you still knew exactly who I was. "Little Doug" is what you use to always call me. You also use to tell me my looks will never change. I've looked the same since I was a little boy. I tell everyone who surrounds me that we have a "genetic curse" of slow aging for the simple fact that you don't look your age. You look way younger than what you are. I wish I could shine another pair of your shoes for you. You were very appreciative of me doing that for you, I didn't have a problem with it myself. I really enjoyed the time we spent communicating with eachother. Dallas and I probably talked your head off, but you knew it was because we don't get to see you that much. For some odd reason, when my daddy called me to tell me this news, I didn't instantly break down. We all know that you are going to such a better place to look down on us and keep us all in check. (So why cry over such a good thing?--Tears of joy, maybe.) All I ask is that you instill motivation in me anytime you see me getting ready to slip. College is a struggle, and I need that extra motivation from someone who cares. "Keep going," is something you did tell me when I told you I was about to complete my first year of college. Since you were the one who told me to "keep going," that's exactly what I'm going to do Pops! Even though you're not there in reality to talk to me, I know if you have anything to say to me you will tell me spiritually. Please keep me together Sunday, this is going to be hard! I love you Grandaddy Oddie!!!
