Laura Dickson Obituary

Laura Mae Heninger Dickson, 91, of Galax, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Dickson was born on August 4, 1917, in Saltville, Va., to John Bell and Mary Rose Heninger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dickson; a son, Joseph (Bud) Dickson Jr.; one greatgrandchild; two sisters; and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bob Williams, of Independence, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Rachel Dickson, of Galax, Va.; grandchildren and spouses, Resa and Steve Nichols, Tim and Melissa Williams, Karen and Chris Porter, Rhonda and Allen Conner, Kristin and Larry Brown, and Joey and Misty Dickson; 13 greatgrandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, W.O. and Bernice Heninger, of Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 8 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008, in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Cas Horton and Bud Moore officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, in Fairlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
