Pauline Elizabeth Dow Burks

Pauline Elizabeth Dow Burks departed this life on Friday morning, September 5, 2008. She was born March 17, 1920 in Salem, Va. She was a long-time member of Big Hill Baptist Church of Salem, Va. Survivors are her son, Leonard E. (Gloria) Dowe; two sisters, Kathleen D. Saunders and Ruth D. Brewer; three grandchildren, Richard L. (Deidra) Dowe, of Roanoke, Va., Steven A. (Laura) Dowe, of Fort Mill, S.C. and LaTonia Dowe (Clarence) Keeling, of Roanoke, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jordan and Justin, of Fort Mill, S.C., Jasmine Keeling and Remington Dowe, of Roanoke, Va. She will be sadly missed by a host of many other beloved relatives and friends. Our sincere thanks to the staffs at Lewis-Gale Medical Center and Friendship Retirement Community who offered tender care and unconditional love during her time of illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Big Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev .Thomas Penn officiating. Interment will follow in Big Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
