Mary Manuel Obituary

Mary Belle Alley Manuel, 91, of Dublin, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, September 7, 2008, from the Beulah House, Dublin. Mrs. Manuel was a long time resident of Pulaski and after the death of her husband resided a number of years in Dublin with her daughter, Peggy, and son-in-law, Charles. Affectionately known as "Nanny" by her family and others, she would like to be remembered for her faith in God and love for her family. She was a member of the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended the Family Worship Center in Pulaski as long as her health permitted. She was a homemaker and was employed for a number of years at the Paul Knitting Mill. She was born in Wythe County on January 23, 1917, to the late Kilis R. and Edgar H. Alley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Troy Manuel; two sisters, Effie A. Saunders and Louise A. Dean; brother, Garnett R. Alley; two granddaughters, Deborah Kay Vest and Ginger Reneé Manuel. Surviving are two daughters, Helen (Jeanette) Manuel Snavely and husband, Clyde, of Roanoke, and Peggy Manuel Vest and husband, Charles, of Dublin; one son, Jerry D. Manuel and wife, Betty, of Barren Springs; six grandchildren, Jeff Manuel, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Karen Morales, of Matthews, N.C., Kim Maddox, of Roanoke, Susan Willer, of Simpsonville, S.C., Rusty Manuel, of Barren Springs, and Billy Manuel, of Barren Springs; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Sizemore officiating. Burial will fellow in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Wythe County. Visiting will be held Thursday evening, September 11, 2008, from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of the Beulah House and Carillon Hospice for the compassionate care given our Mom during her illness. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Beulah House, P.O. Box 478, Dublin, Va. 24084 in memory of Mrs. Manuel. Arrangements. by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
