James Stanley Obituary

James Alfred Stanley, 64, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, September 7, 2008, at his home. He was born November 11, 1943, a son of the late Douglas and Viola Stanley. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William A. Stanley. James is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy Harrison Stanley; beloved daughter, Regina Stanley Weeks and husband, Randy; one brother, Richard Stanley; one sister and brother-in-law, Reva and Marvin Spicer; sister-in-law, Juanita Stanley; a special uncle, Walter Willard; several aunts and one uncle; four nieces and 10 nephews; mother-in-law, Elva Harrison; one brother-in-law, Bill Harrison and wife, Sue; two sisters-inlaw, Mary Early and husband, Gerry, and Margaret Basham; and special friend of the family, Midge Stanley. James retired from M&W Industries with 36 years of service. He was a member of Willow Creek Golf Club for many years and was an avid golfer. He was also a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008, from Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Burton White officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Flint Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Emily Smith, 2536 Booker T. Washington Highway, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va.
