Grover Joseph Eldridge

Grover Joseph Eldridge, 85, of Wytheville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. Mr. Eldridge was born in Rose Hill, Va., the son of the late Joseph Robert and Sally Campbell Eldridge. He attended Manassas State Vocational School of Electricity. He was retired from the Virginia State Police with over 40 years of service, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He is a senior member of the Wytheville Kiwanis Club, Wytheville Masonic Lodge # 82 AF & AM, Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church in Rose Hill, Va., and attended the Wytheville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Adren McFall Eldridge, of Wytheville; son, Joe Mack Eldridge and Vicki Eldridge, of Houston, Texas; sister Elwanda E. Cowan, of Rose Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Wytheville Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Rusty Mullins, with the interment in the West End Cemetery with Masonic Graveside rites conducted by Wytheville Masonic Lodge # 82 AF & AM. The Virginia State Police will serve as Honor Guards. The family will receive friends at Wytheville Baptist Church Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
