Sonja Jay Turner

Sonja Jay Turner, 66, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 8, 2008. She was a lover of all animals and nature, a avid gardener and loved to see things grow, She loved church and loved to read the Bible and loved gospel music. She was a longtime employee of Red Ball Lumber Company. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Sarah E. Martin; father, W. Lee Turner; sister, Frances Eleanor Turner; and mother, Myrtle V. Turner. Surviving are her sisters, Elizabeth Turner, Joy Corkery and Anna Teshoian; brother, William M. Turner; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held noon on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
