James Woods Obituary

James William Woods Jr., 76, of Ferrum, a devoted husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Mr. Woods was a member of the Ferrum Faith Assembly of God Church, a retired employee of Lane Furniture with over 29 years of service and a United States Army veteran. Preceding Mr. Woods in death were his wife of 47 years, Ruby Mae Webb Woods; parents, James William Sr. and Virginia Wade Woods; brothers, William, Herman, Wilbert and Bernard; and sisters, Ada Young, Jerusa Peters and Virginia Whitaker. Surviving to cherish his memory are daughter and son-in-law, Pam Harmon and husband, Dwayne, of Galax; sons and daughters-in-law, Leon Woods and wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount, and Roger Woods and wife, Gilda, of Ferrum; grandchildren, Derek Woods and wife, Jamie, Sara Woods, Katie Woods, Amy Harmon and Emily Harmon; sisters, Ruby Worley, of Ferrum, and Sylvia Spencer, of Rocky Mount; brother, Frank Woods, of Callaway; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Estelle Greer. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, from the chapel of Lynch Funeral Home with Pastor Garlin Strouth and Pastor Titus D. Anderson officiating. Interment to follow at Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Mr. Woods' name be made to the Ferrum Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 160, Ferrum, Va. 24088 or to the Ferrum Fire Department, P.O. Box 69, Ferrum, Va. 24088. Arrangements by Lynch Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va.

DEAR FRIENDS, WE ARE SO SADDEN AT THE PASSING OF JR. WE WERE GOOD FRIENDS AND J.H. WILL MISS THE FUN TIMES THEY HAD WITH THEIR BEAGLES
