David Buckland Obituary

David W. Buckland, 68, of Pembroke, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 25, 2008 at Montgomery Regional Hospital Blacksburg, Va., following a long illness. Born April 19, 1940 in Giles County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sherman and Mary Morrison Buckland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson , Michael Todd Lawrence, and a sister, Betty Elizabeth Buckland. Mr. Buckland was a retired Project Manager for M&R Constructors, a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Narrows Post 6000 VFW, attended the Giles County Adult Day Care Services, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rich Creek, Va. Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Ann" Harris Buckland; five sons, Ryan Buckland and fiancée, Krista, of Pembroke, Va., Todd and Angie Lawrence, of Carrollton, Ky., Tracey Evans and wife, Dee, of Princeton, W.Va., Wayne Evans, of Galax, Va., and Jerry Buckland, of Michigan; three daughters, Janet Areana and Mary Buckland, both of Oregon, and Jackie Buckland, of North Carolina; two sisters, Shirley B. Cook, of Roanoke, Va. and Scarlet B. Ratcliff, of Pearisburg, Va.; two brothers, Sherman M. "Sonny" Buckland and wife, Linda and James B. "J.B." Buckland and wife, Barbara, all of Rich Creek, Va., 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a special aunt, Blanche Harvey, of Pearisburg, Va. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va. with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2008, at the funeral home.
