Bobby Atkins Obituary
He was born July 4, 1931, in Roanoke, son of the late Clarence and Mary Atkins. His wife, Margaret, and two sons, Kenneth Lee Atkins and David Allen Atkins, and two brothers, Clarence Edward "Crip" Atkins and Claude Eugene Atkins, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Atkins served in the United States Navy, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was the former owner of Ninth Street Tire. He was a faithful member of Trinity Church of God.
His survivors include, son, Howard H. Atkins and his wife, Beth, of Montvale; daughters, Peggy A. Clifton and husband, Michael, and Dana Atkins, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Jolanta Moore and husband, Charlie, Elijah Bacchus, Bradley Atkins, Brittany Clifton, Taylor Clifton and Anthony Wheeler; great-grandson, Shawn McNeil; sister, Barbara Richards; brothers, Henry Atkins, Paul Atkins and wife, Mary, Bill Atkins and wife, Barbara, Ronnie Atkins and wife, Diana; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the first floor step down unit of the VA Medical Center for their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DAV Chapter #3, 2381 Roanoke Blvd., Salem, Va. 24153.
Funeral service will be held noon Monday, October 13, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel, the Rev. Terry Shaw to officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.

My pawpaw will be greatly missed. The world has lost a wonderful man and loving father and grandfather. He will forever be in our hearts and we know that Mawmaw, David and Kenny welcomed him home with open arms.
