Carrie McCormack Obituary

Carrie E. Hylton McCormack, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008. Carrie was a lifetime member of Ninth Street Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David McCormack; two infant babies; her sisters, Tiler Spring, Irene Raper, Maggie Cox, Beulah Jacobs and Margie Mills; and her brothers, Oakey, Paul, James and Billy Hylton. Surviving are her nephews, Dr. Hampton Hylton and wife, Judy of Winchester, Va. and Ronald Hylton and wife, Jean of Harrionsburg, Va.; her nieces , Gail Patrick and husband, Michael of Suffolk, Va., Wanda Raper, of Roanoke, and Mildred Baldwin and husband, Morris of Roanoke. Also surviving are several great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Our Lady of the Valley for their care. A celebration of her life will take place at Ninth Street Church of the Brethren at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 with the Rev. Patrick Starkey officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.
