Mr. Fiorentino was a patient on my unit, the Medical ICU, at the Salem Veterans hospital. He touched the hearts of many of the nurses and staff here and we've thought of him often since his discharge home. Our thoughts are with his wife, family and loved ones.

Dear Evelyn,
On behalf of R.A.V.E. may I extend our deepest sympathy at your loss. We have enjoyed so much getting to know both you and Tony, since you first began attending our meetings in the Spring of 2007. It was so evident how precious you were to Tony and how much he wanted to see you succeed in your journey of adapting to the changes that vision loss has brought into your life. It was evident too, as you have faithfully stood by his side during his long periods of illness, how deeply you loved him. Scripture tells us that everything else will pass away, but love alone will last forever. I believe, too, that in Christ, we will someday be reunited with our loved ones. I know that you will soon be moving to Connecticut to be nearer your daughter, and we will greatly miss you. It is our sincere hope that if there is any way that Dick and I or R.A.V.E. can be of help, comfort or support to you in any way, that you will let us know. You may contact us at 540/562-0455. You are surrounded by our love and prayers, Evelyn, and we pray that just with your vision loss, you will use this experience as not a stumbling block, but a stepping stone in your life, and will be able to move up higher. As our R.A.V.E. creed states, "While vision loss (or the loss of a loved one) does, indeed, change HOW we do many things in our lives; it need not change WHO we are, except for the better, and the choice is up to us." I hope we can stay in touch via email or snail mail. God bless you, dear friend.
Love & Blessings,
Dianne & Dick Decker
