John Grim Obituary

John Woodson Grim, 81, of Troutville, Va., passed away, on Friday, October 17, 2008, surrounded by his family, John was wrapped in Jesus' warm and welcoming arms and taken to his Heavenly home. John was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Frances Henry Grim; his brother, Marshall Grim Jr.; and his first wife of 36 years, Anna James Grim.
John is survived by Elaine, his wife of 20 years; his son, John Michael and his wife, Ramey; Stephanie and Randy Baynton; and his favorite and only grandson, Ben Baynton.
He is also survived by siblings, Richard and Loretta Grim, of Roanoke, Henry and Carol Grim, of Salem, Edward Grim, of Texas, and Cindy Grim, of Salem, Va.; and his aunt and uncle, Thelma and Carl Dooley, of Roanoke.
John was a member of his beloved Seekers Sunday School class at North Roanoke Baptist Church and previously was an active member of Troutville Baptist Church and he had many fond memories of friends and special events there.
John served in the United States Navy in World War II aboard the USS Enterprise. After retiring from Yokohama Tire Company, John became a Master Mason in the Boone Lodge No. 247, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Roanoke Valley Shrine Club and the Kazim Shriners. He drove a miniature tanker truck in parades enjoying the children's enthusiasm.
The family wishes to express thanks to Carilion RMH 8 West staff including registered nurses, Sandra and Blair, Dr. Klawann, Dr. Lee, Dr. Lystash, Dr. Seibert, Dr. Pile and Phyllis Whitehead, Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Special thanks to Sharon Williams, Donna Bond and Melanie Johnson for their loving care of John.
The family will receive visitors at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, Va., on Sunday, October 19, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008, at Troutville Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Darryl Crim of North Roanoke Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Arrangements Rader Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Daleville, Va.
