Frances Hodges Obituary

Frances Gardner Hodges, 89, of Martinsville, Va., died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Pulaski Community Hospital, in Pulaski. For her, all of life was a quest and she has now begun her eternal adventure. She was born in Franklin County, (Sydnorsville Community), June 14, 1919, to James W. and Emma Coleman Gardner. She was a bookkeeper for Gardner Music, in Martinsville, for a number of years and was a member of First Baptist Church, of Martinsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lauris Hodges, in 1996; a sister, Ruth McCollum; two brothers, T. Woodson Gardner and Leonard Gardner. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Hodges, of Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews. Special appreciation is expressed by the family to Dr. Richard Williams and the wonderful staff of Pulaski Health and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2008, at Roselawn Burial Park, in Martinsville, with the Rev. John Fulcher officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel.

God Bless you Debbie and your family. I'll always remember all the times I shared with Ms. Frances in the beauty shop at PHRC when I was there. I always enjoyed talking to her. I'll keep you all in my prayers
