Romey Ralph Solomon

Romey Solomon Obituary

Romey Ralph (Preacher) Solomon, 88, of Parrott, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, in Carilion New River Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Otter Solomon; two brothers, Homer and Roby; two sisters, Annie and Janie; and one grandson, Bruce Richards. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Annie A. Solomon; three daughters and son-in-laws, Patricia and Dan Smith, Goldie and James Richards, Rebecca and Paul Eicher; one son, Ronald (Ronnie) Solomon; six grandchildren, Donna Miller, David Smith, Jimmy Richards, Jamie King, Mary Anne King Jennelle; and a granddaughter, Samantha (Sam) Solomon, who was like a daughter to him. Also survive are nine great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; and three stepgrandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Parrott Church of God with the Rev. Eddie Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Devilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.

I remember him coming into Food Lion and buying Corn Flakes and bubble gum. He would also be looking at times for something that Annie had sent him to the store for and we would always try to help him find it. He was a very sweet man and I will miss seeing him in the store and talking to him. May the Lord be with you all at this time.

I am so incredibly sad for your family's loss. Preacher was a wonderful man, and I adored him. I met him when I was working at the Parrott Post Office a couple of years ago. He would come in every day and have a different, but equally funny and entertaining story to tell. I know that he will be greatly missed.
