Iva Jones Obituary

Iva Ross Jones, 84, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, October 18, 2008. She was born June 12, 1924, a daughter of the late LeRoy and Sallie Cannaday Ross. She was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church for almost 50 years, where she was active in the Sunday School, children's programs, and served on the church board for many years. She graduated from Ferrum College and attended Radford University. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Walter Louis Jones; children, Roger Jones and wife, Nancy, Kathy Palmieri and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Mitzi Kendrick, Matthew Jones, Trevor Jones; greatgrandchildren, Joshua Kendrick, Tristen Kendrick; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Nina Ross; sisters, Jean Draper and Ruth Danridge; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frances Reynolds, Herbert Jones, Roy and Kitty Jones, Mildred Jones; special friends, Glenn and Laura Weaver; caretakers, Viola Hughes, Gladys Wade. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Dr. John A. Plummer officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Rocky Mount United Methodist, 35 North Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday, with her family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
