Henry Stephen Hancock Sr.

Henry Stephen (Steve) Hancock Sr., 64, of Daleville, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2008. Steve's abiding faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ enabled him to be a wonderful, caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Amer Wright Hancock; and brother, Vernon Hancock Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Crane Hancock; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve Hancock Jr. and Jennifer, of Mebane, N.C., and John Hancock and Michele, of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, James, Mariana, and Matthew; brothers, Jesse Hancock and wife, Gail, of Roanoke, Va., Phillip Hancock and wife, Maxine, of Blue Ridge, Va.; sisters, Mary Mills, of New Castle, Va., Betty Moore, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Joan Buyers, of Roanoke, Va., and Dot Carroll and husband, Roger, of Salem, Va.; sister-in-law, Pat Hancock, of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mitchell and husband, Ray, of Dry Fork, Va.; and two very dear friends, Joe Edward Cruise and wife, Evelyn Johns Cruise, of Roanoke, Va., and Larry Jarvis, of Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 402 Hershberger Road, Roanoke, Va. The Rev. N. Michael Ennis will officiate and interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Airport Road. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, Va.
