Lewis Hannabass Obituary

Lewis A. (Frog) Hannabass, 76, of Moneta, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008, in the comfort of his home after a long illness. Lewis was born on Wednesday, April 20, 1932, in Bedford County, a son of the late Edward J. Hannabass Sr. and the late Della Jenkins Hannabass. Lewis was a life long Bedford County farmer as well as the owner operator of Hannabass Trucking, Inc. for many years. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Lewis was also a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Maxine Cox Hannabass, of Moneta; daughter and sonin-law, Teresa H. and Ralph Rogers, of Vinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Karen S. Hannabass and Richard W. and Annette R. Hannabass, all of Moneta; two granddaughters, Chrissy Hannabass and Sierra Hannabass; grandson, Austin Hannabass; two brothers, Frank Hannabass, E.J. Hannabass Jr.; three sisters, Virginia Saunders, Louise White, Joyce West; and a host of loving family and friends. The family requests those wishing to make memorials consider Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 2 p.m. at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Butterworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
