Mildred Whitten McCormick

1925 - 2008

Mildred Whitten McCormick, 83, of Buena Vista, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born in Amherst County on April 12, 1925. She was a lifetime member of First Brethren Church, of Buena Vista. She was employed with James Lees for over 20 years. She was the daughter of the late Patrick Whitten and Effie Nuckols Whitten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Brown D. McCormick; three brothers, Curtis, Augustus, Patrick Jr. Whitten; and one sister, Mamie Ogden. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Ramsey and Barbara Humphreys, both of Buena Vista; two sons, Robert Ramsey, and wife, Ruth, of Vesuvius, and Wayne and wife, Ninita, also of Buena Vista; a sister, Oyce, and husband, Dan McNeil, of Hampton; nine grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 27, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the First Brethren Church, in Buena Vista, with Pastor Christian Becker officiating. Internment will follow at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2008, at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel.
