Carrie Bourhill Obituary

Carrie Hall Robinson Bourhill, 76, of Marion, Va., died peacefully at her home on the Saturday, October 24, 2008. Carrie was a devoted nurse, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a graduate of Konnarock Training School in 1949. She then attended LenoirRhyne College in Hickory, N.C., and later went on to receive her registered nursing degree at Watts Hospital in Durham, N.C., in 1953. Carrie retired from Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute in 1976 as the Director of Nursing. After her retirement, she was an active volunteer for the Red Cross and Hospice. Carrie is preceded in death by her father, Noah Lee Hall; mother, Henrietta Hall; four brothers, Eugene Hall, Glenn Hall, Garland Hall and Lester Hall. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, William Glenn Robinson Sr.; and her second husband, Graham H. Bourhill, MD., whom affectionately called her "Cara Mia."
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Glenn Robinson Jr. and wife, Michelle, of Marion, Va.; stepchildren, Eric C. Bourhill, MD. and wife, Linda, of Callaway, Va., David Bourhill, of Roanoke, Va., and Joy Bourhill and husband, Jim Hubert, of Germany; three brothers and sisters-in law, Garnett Hall and wife, Jean, of Marion, Va., Joe Hall and wife, Margaret, of Marion, Va., and Marvin Hall and wife, Marylyn, of Newbury Park, Calif. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Katy Robinson and fiance, Joshua Keast, and Rachel Robinson, all of Atkins, Va., and Layton, Lida and Celia Bourhill, of Callaway, Va.; one great-grandchild, Hannah Robinson-Keast of Atkins, Va.; numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, October, 30, 2008, at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel or any time at the home of her son, 182 Market Street, Marion, Va. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Carrie requested that any donations be made to the Boy's Home, 306 Boy's Home Road, Covington, Va. 24426.

To Carrie's family and Dr. Bourhill's children. So sorry for your loss. This must be difficult for you to go through this again and so soon. My love and prayers are with all of you. Carrie was a very important figure in my life. She was not only my nursing supervisor but a dear friend. Our sympathy goes to the family and she will be missed.
