Ernest Swanson Bowman

Ernest Swanson Bowman, 85, of Cloverdale, Va., passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Mr. Bowman retired from Radford Ammunition Plant in Radford after 22 years of service. He also was employed part time at Hardees for 15 years. Mr. Bowman was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Kizzie Bowman; and one brother, Duel Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sadie Semones Bowman; daughter, Yvonne Heath and husband, John, of Troutville; son, Glenn Bowman and wife, Linda, of Troutville; grandchildren, Eric Bowman and wife, Lori, of Troutville, Shannon Bowman, of Daleville, Timothy Heath, of Salem, and Wendy McClanahan and husband, Richard, of Troutville; great-grandchildren, Benjamin McClanahan, Rosemary McClanahan, Caroline McClanahan, Everett Bowman and Colton Bowman; and sisters, Edna Hall and Faye Martin. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Robert L. Alderman and the Rev. Robert Mullen officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
