Dora Key Obituary

Dora Alverta Key better known as Mama Key, 84, of Galax, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008, in Richmond, Va. She was born in Surry County, N.C., on August 27, 1924, to Lloyd and Susan Waddell Spicer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Key Sr.; and a son, Johnny Key. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Dena Key, of Dugspur, Va.; a daughter, Rita Key, of Galax; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Samuel Brimer, of High Point, N.C., Scarlet and Dale Rucker, of Galax, Va.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Key, of Galax, Va.; sister, Linnie Baumgardner, of Galax, Va. Seven grandchildren; thirteen greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at VaughanGuynn Chapel with the Rev. Randy J. Key officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery on Edmonds Road. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Galax Foundation for Excellence in Education, P.O. Box 487 Galax, Va. 24333 or to the Twin County Regional Healthcare Foundation, 200 Hospital Drive Galax, Va. 24333. A guestbook is available online at www. vaughanguynn.com.
