Grandpa,
I just wanted to write to you and let you know that I miss you with all my heart, although it aches worse now than it ever has before. You were my favorite great grandpa, and my only great grandpa! :) There are so many memories of you in my mind, and so many moments in my heart that I shared with you. You will NEVER be forgotten by me, and hopefully soon we will meet again. Just remember Grandpa, you are in my heart and I can't wait to see your smiling face when I meet you on the other side. I miss you.. and I love you Grandpa, more than you know.

Didn't know James very long. It was a big thing when he and my dad (Ed Nichols) found each other (cousins they never knew). But it was so nice getting to know James, he will be missed very much.

To the family of James: You all don't know me - I'm Wallace's daughter. I wanted to let you know how much I thought of James. I enjoyed his visits at daddy's house. Even when he was too weak to get out of the car he would still stop to visit and dad would get a chair and sit by the car and they would talk. He talked about his family a lot and I know he loved you all very much. He sure will be missed in the Thaxton area. I'm praying for you all.

Nina, Brenda, Jimmy, Susie and Sandy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. James was a wonderful man and he always made us feel welcome and loved.
I remember the times you all come to GA. on the way to Fla. and we all had such a great time. Memories are vivid of when we come to VA. and he would show us all of his fruit trees and we would laugh for hours with you all. I was so glad to get to see and talk with James at the last reunion we came to. Although we haven't seen each other in years, he had not changed a bit. He was still full of laughter and love.
I will bet James and Dad are laughing and joking with Grandma B.
I know the next few months will be especially difficult but know that great memories will help you through this time. Our prayer is for God to wrap his arms around you and hold you close both day and night.
With our love and prayers,
Bobby and Donna

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We remember so many wonderful times with James and the whole family. One time sticks in our minds when he took us all boating on Philpot Lake. A really bad storm came up while we were on an island. While he tried as hard as he could to get us all back to shore, we waited in the only shelter, an outhouse! What fun we all had laughing about it for years. Another time we remember him taking us for a long ride in the mountains and one particular day, by a creek, he spotted a snake. I think it was a black snake but he didn't care, he picked it up saying "it won't hurt you". At that minute the snake bit him! He was fine, but we talked about that for years also. He was a great Uncle and friend and he will be missed. We both were happy how each of you kept him close these last few years. We were so sorry we could not come this weekend, but send our love and hope to see you soon.

Our hearts goes out to each of you... I pray that
God will give you all His strength... His comfort and His peace as ONLY He can do..Ken said he remembers James always loved the wild game dinners and I will always remember yaw going to Philpot Lake...and all kinds of things... Hold on to your memories . I remember I asked Uncle James if he had ever made his peace with God and he told me "yes I have,...I've taken care of all that" So that is a comfort to know that someday we can see him again...May God bless and keep you all in His arms.. We love you... love Ken and Joyce...(your favorite cousin)
