Lois McCoy Obituary

Lois Atkinson Rountree McCoy, 86, of Roanoke, went to her Heavenly home Monday, November 3, 2008. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Bessie Atkinson; two wonderful husbands, Reese R. Rountree and Raymond McCoy. She would tell everyone she was so blessed through life, and she tried to return that through her kindness, friendliness and generosity. She was a wonderful and loving mom, grandmother and greatgrandmother, and will be truly missed by all of her friends and family. Lois is survived by her daughter, Judy LaPrade, of Roanoke; son and daughterin-law, Ted and Elaine Rountree, of Virginia Beach; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Kathleen Atkinson; grandchildren, Meagan and Eric Warren, Charlotte, N.C., Paula and Jeff Kellerhouse, Virginia Beach, Va., and Judy and Jan-Eric Zeller, of Catawba; great-grandchildren, Allie and Josh Kellerhouse; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be in Evergreen Burial Park 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008. The Rev. Marvin Barbree will officiate. The family will receive friends there at Evergreen immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Rd., #A, Roanoke, Va., 24018, or the Roanoke Rescue Mission, 402 Fourth St. S.E., Roanoke, Va., 24013. Judy,
I am sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I met her a few times and I really enjoyed talking with her. She was very funny and had a good sense of humor. I know that you will miss her but you have your great memories to hold on to.

To the family of Lois,

I was priviledged to visit with Lois at Loyalton on many occasions as part of the Homebound Ministry at First Baptist Church. We always had wonderful visits and Lois was a delight to talk with. I really enjoyed my times with her. May her sweet spirit help you in your time of healing . God bless each of you.

Teddy, Judy and family, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Mother. I always enjoyed her coming to visit us over on Brandon Ave. She was always so cheerful and happy. I always smile at memories of her. My Mother is deeply grieved at her passing and wishes she could be there with you. Her age and poor health just make it impossible for her to be away from home. Please know our prayers are with you all.
In sympathy, Kim Creger Trout
