Roy Hudson Obituary

Roy Randel Hudson, 80, of Roanoke County, left his earthly home on Friday, November 7, 2008 to join his cherished wife, Geraldine Rose, who passed away on September 12, 2008. Dad served his country, raised his children and loved his family. In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he was also predeceased by his son, Steve; his parents, Harvey and Pokie; sisters, Berle, Zelma, Hazel, Mary, Geraldine, and Elizabeth; and brothers, Swanson and Wayne. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi and Rick Robertson, Frankie and Kip Moses, Lisa and Robert Compton; sons, Mike Hudson, Tony Hudson and his girlfriend, Ann; brother, Jake Hudson; sisters, Clarabelle and Francis Hodges; seven grandchildren, Brian and Shawn Robertson, Jarrod, Lindsey and Kasey Hudson, Jimmy Moses and Brandi Fee; greatgrandchildren, Michael, Brady, Christopher, Alex, Matthew, and Samantha due on December 23, 2008. Dad enjoyed a colorful life of running moonshine, playing cards and tinkering in his garage. He was a good man who was proud of his roots and stood for what he believed in. If he liked you, you had a friend for life. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel and Crematory, 540-982-2221.

Tony and Sandy,
I was so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I was out of town when I heard and was unable to attend the visitation. I know it must be very hard loosing two parents so close together, but now they are together, which is all that counts. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

It is hard to believe that Uncle Roy and Aunt Jerry are gone, but it can only bring comfort to know that they are together again with those that went before them. They are already missed so much and only time can help heal the pain. I have so many wonderful memories of them both and so glad I could be a part of their last days. I love you all very much and know that your mom and dad were so proud of each of their kids and grandkids, the love of their lives!!

MY DAD WAS LOST WITHOUT MY MOM. HE SAID HE DIDN'T ENJOY ANYTHING ANYMORE. HE WAS TO OLD & FRAGILE & HE MISSED HER TO MUCH. I THINK HE SIMPLY DIED OF A BROKEN HEART. IT WAS TO HARD FOR HIM TO STAY WHEN HE WANTED SO BAD TO BE WITH MOM. I THANK GOD THAT HE TOOK BOTH OF THEM QUICKLY SO THEY WOULDN'T SUFFER. THEY WERE GOOD PEOPLE WHO WORKED HARD ALL THEIR LIVES. AND THEY LOVED THEIR FAMILY. I SURE WILL MISS THEM. BUT THEIR LEGACIES WILL LIVE ON IN US & OUR CHILDREN & GRANDCHILDREN. THANK YOU ALL FOR GIVING SO MUCH TO THEM. I WILL TREASURE MY MEMORIES OF THEM FOREVER.

Sandy, Mike, Tony ..... I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. He, at times, presented a gruff exterior, but anyone who knew him, knew that he had a heart of gold. My kids miss their grandaddy, and their granny tremendously, but we all know they are together, and at peace. God bless you and keep you.

May the family have peace knowing that they are together again. It is so hard to loose parents especially this close together. I loved them with all my heart and think of them so much.. May GOD be with the family in days to come and have peace in your hearts knowing they are resting in peace.. Love Trisha Ann [Geraldine's daughter]
