Robert A. Searles

Robert A. Searles, 80, of Vinton, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Bob retired from Lone Star Industries as a Vice President in 1986. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corp, was an active member in SCORE, the Red Cross and a 50+ year member of Temple Lodge No. 47 in Greencastle, Ind. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Searles; and survived by his children, Linda Searles, of Florida, Jeff and Kathy Searles, of Pennsylvania, Nancy Searles, of Pennsylvania, and Bob and Christine Searles, of North Carolina; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob spent his last year at The Glebe under the loving care of the staff and residents. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Military Rights. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel from noon to 2 p.m. the day of the service.
