I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I met your mother at the very first kid's dig. She and I sat under a tree at the dig site and showed the children who came by the wonders in the clay of the wetlands of Saltville.
I missed her this past summer. Nancy was a very dear friend and I will miss her terribly. My thoughts are with you --- I am sorry for your lost.

Deepest sympathy to you, Katie and Andy. I will remember her for her love and support to our family when we were faced with my illness and the help for getting us to school each morning with a breakfast from our morning stop at Master Chef. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Andy and Katie,

Kelly and I were very sad to hear of your mom's passing. She was a big part of my life growing up playing chess in addition to being the mother of one of my best and lifelong friends. Playing competitive chess has been an enormous positive influence in my life. Without the dedication of "Mrs. Mac", it's unlikely we would have had that opportunity. Our thoughts are with you and we look forward to seeing you at Christmas.

Sincerely,

Mark Alley & Kelly Scott

Andy and Katie,
The news of your mothers passing has left a hole in our family"s heart. Nancy was a good friend and a "Granny" to our Katie Beth. Her love of our family and her second home, Saltville, is just an example of her big heart. We have never known anyone who loved learning as much as Nancy did. And the sharing of that knowledge was her passion. Katie Beth's room is full of books, "Granny Nancy" insisted needed to be read.
Nancy was never so happy as when she was covered from head to toe with the gray mud of Saltville during the "digs." She was always eager to explain her interest in Saltville. She was a great asset to the Museum of the Middle Appalachians in so many ways. She will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayer are with you.

I was one of Nancy's classmates and I always enjoyed being with her and seeing her dance. She was a very talented person. My prayers are with Katie and Andy. Know that your Mother is at peace now.

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. McDaniel. She was a wonderful teacher and mentor to my sisters and me as we learned the game of chess. I will never forget our early mornings at Master Chef.

I was saddened to read of Ms McDaniel's passing. I too was one of many students whose life she touched through her gift of teaching. She was one of my favorites and will be greatly missed.

Nancy will be greatly missed. She taught all three daughters discipline through chess; she taught me how to coach chess and to run tournaments. Her passion for children and chess was paramount. Now may my friend rest in peace.

Nancy was a friend to many here in Pulaski. Knowing her and her family go back as long as Nancy's age. Since I retired, she would be in the Goodwill Store or I would see her passing on the street. My Mother bought Avon Products from Nancy's Mother years ago. I will miss seeing Nancy.

Like Alice B. Buchanan, I can claim friendship with Nancy going back to the sixth and seventh grade. We were room-mates at Radford College for a spell, as well. "Frenchie" was a good friend and we shared many years of secrets and even though I hadn't seen her in a while, she was often in my thoughts.

I am very, very sad to learn of Nancy's death. She was my best friend all through high school and was a true and faithful friend to me. I will miss her great sense of humor and quick mind. She was a good person and I hope she has found the peace she sought for so long.

I was just thinking about cousin Nancy the other day and when we were looking through the research Uncle Guy had done regarding our ancestors . . . that was so many years ago . . . It's very hard to lose your mom and my heart and prayers are with you all.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
