Michelle Smallwood Obituary

Michelle Lynn Smallwood, 43, of Roanoke County, Va., went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Michelle was born March 1, 1965, in Roanoke to the late Benny Foley and Joan Meador. Michelle married Thomas Neal Smallwood on April 13, 1986, a union of 22 years. Michelle was a caring, loving person, whom liked to hunt, she loved tattoos and won several awards for hers. She was an animal lover, and loved being outdoors. She attended Lamplight Baptist Church. Michelle was preceded in death by her father, Benny Foley, on August 4, 2008; her maternal grandmother, Lydia Meador; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Foley; and a special cousin, Steven Hartman. Michelle leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Thomas N. Smallwood; her devoted mother, Joan M. Foley, of Boones Mill; her loving sister, Linda Foley and husband, Sergio Salinas; her brother, Benjamin Foley; two loving daughters, Beth Smallwood and Pennie Dodge; granddaughter, Carlie Dodge; special aunt and uncle, Robin and Earl Hartman; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. A service celebrating Michelle's life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Jeff Gardner. Interment will private. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolence may be made to the family at www.lotzfuneralhome.com.

Michelle, I know you are walking with the Lord and no doubt Uncle Benny and Granma are showing you around. You will be missed and were love so much I was so lucky to have you in my life. There's no doubt in my mind you're in Heaven with God, the Angels, your Grandmother, Father, Tisha, and all of God's creatures you spared suffering and death. You have no idea how much I loved you and wanted to help you... I'm grateful to God that I got to speak with and hug you one last time.
