Fannie Martin Obituary

Fannie M. Martin, 76, of Roanoke, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 14, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Martin, Jr., her great-great-grandchild, Julianna Weldon and eight brothers and sisters. Fannie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charlie Flowers, of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Nancy Pauley, of Lee County; nine grandchildren, Marie Sloce, Michelle Taylor, Melissa Parsons, Tracey Visel, Angela Reedy, Ashlee Pauley, Jack Pauley, Doris Dehart, Carol Flowers; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Anthony Wade Martin, Thomas S. Martin, III; stepdaughter, Nancy Sue Martin; and her best friend, Frankie Edwards. The family would like to express a special thanks to Carilion Hospice for the wonderful care given to Fannie. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2008 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, with Dr. Ken M. Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
