Helen Haynes Obituary

Helen Hollandsworth Haynes, 74, of Christiansburg, Va., beloved wife, mother, and sister left this Earth to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2008. As in life, a peaceful woman, she left this Earth in peace. The daughter to the late Burman and Ocie Phillips Hollandsworth, she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Alpha, Belva, Theodore, and Vernon Hollandsworth. Honoring her memory and left behind to cherish her are her husband of 43 years, David L. Haynes; her daughter, Deborah Haynes Hamilton and husband, Dr. Kenny Hamilton; and stepgranddaughter, Kathryn Hamilton, from Aberdeen, Scotland, U.K. She is also survived by her sisters, Lena and Vance Duncan, Lora and Sonny Gunter, and Eloise Funkhouser, all of Christiansburg, and Phyllis and Glenn Boyd, of Nokomis, Fla.; brothers-in-law and spouse, Paul and Betty Haynes, Tom Haynes, of Christiansburg, and Mark Haynes, of Key Largo, Fla.; aunt, Delilah Phillips, of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews. Such a kind hearted woman, loved by as many as she loved in return, Helen was the embodiment of an angel on this Earth. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Montgomery Regional Hospital, ICU staff. "Your devotion to our beloved Helen means so much to our family, Bless you."
Helen we carry you with us always Godspeed. Friends may call anytime after noon on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at The Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery with Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating.
