Mary Dean Obituary

Mary Frances Thomas Dean, 80, of Marion, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008, in the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. She was born in Smyth County to the late Albert and Julia Dolinger Thomas and was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Ann Thomas, Eunice Farrington, and Beulah Hopkins; three brothers, Jim, Doug, and Herbert Thomas. She was retired from the South Western State Hospital in Marion. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Fisher and husband, Randal Fisher, of Roanoke, Va.; two sons, Jimmy Dean and Linda, of Marion, and Michael Dean and Kristy, of Marion; two sisters, Sue Prater, of Sevierville, Tenn., and Louise Gross, of Marion; brothers, Charles Bill Thomas, of Marion, Albert Thomas Jr., of Marion, and Stuart Staley Thomas and wife, Kathy, of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Scott Fisher, of Roanoke, Ryan Fisher, of Phoenix, Ariz., Misty Perrin, of Meadowview, and Eric Dean, of Marion; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Austin, Christian, Cole, and Paige Fisher, and Cameron and Skylar Perrin; former husband and special friend, Claude Dean, of Marion; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Tim Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff on the 3rd wing at Valley Health Care Center for the care given to Ms. Dean. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations can be made to the Activity Fund at Valley Health Care Center, 940 East Lee Highway, Chilhowie, Va. 24319. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion, Va., is serving the Dean family.
