My memory failed me in my earlier posting. I said I last saw my Aunt Ruth in June 2008, at the funeral of her sister and my aunt, Hallie. It was in April 2008.

Sorry.

Our sympathy to husband French and daughter, Judith Gail, on the death of a favorite aunt, Ruth Midkiff Grubb. I last saw her in June at the funeral of another favorite aunt, Hallie Midkiff King. We sat side by side on the sofa and she tightly held my hand.

Aunt Ruth was the sole survivor of the family of my grandfather, Walter Preston Midkiff, of the Slate Spring Branch Community in Wythe County, VA. Her passing leaves me, at age 84, as the oldest surviving male of the next generation, as the first grandchild of Walter Preston.
